     California lawyer J. Jude Basile is known for obtaining substantial verdicts and settlements in very difficult injury and financial loss cases. He is a strong believer in the jury system and the need for lawyers to develop a true understanding of and empathy for their injured clients.  Jude enjoys teaching other attorneys and is frequently associated into cases by attorneys who want to "learn while doing," and acquire experience in Jude's simple, direct approach to discovering and presenting the truth.

     J. Jude Basile is on the Board of Directors and teaching staff of the Trial Lawyers College, founded and run by noted Wyoming trial lawyer Gerry Spence With Gerry Spence, he has set up regional groups of attorneys to share and teach the College's unique and successful methods of preparing and trying cases on behalf of victims and their families.

     The independent national rating service Martindale Hubbell has given J. Jude Basile the highest rating, A-V. He is on the boards of directors of various consumer and trial organizations and has been a member of the American Inns of Court. He is a member of the United States Supreme Court, the California, Georgia,and Federal District Court bar associations, and the Consumer Attorneys of California.

     In 2004, Jude was named "Trial Lawyer of the Year" by Consumer Attorneys of San Diego (CASD) for his work on four major cases and his work teaching other victims' lawyers at the Trial Lawyers College. Click here to read CASD's press release.

     Jude received a Masters Degree in Business from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a Juris Doctor degree, with honors, from Thomas Jefferson School of Law. He began his career as a criminal prosecutor, first for San Diego city and then Santa Barbara County. J. Jude Basile was born and raised in rural western Pennsylvania and grew up working in steel and coal mining towns. He attended college on an athletic scholarship and was inducted into the Edinboro University Athletic Hall of Fame as a Quarterback. He holds a B.A. from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania,

More about the Trial Lawyer's College:

     The Trial Lawyers College is a training facility for trial lawyers located near Dubois, Wyoming.  Attorney Gerry Spence created and directs it. It hosts both annual programs in Wyoming and four-day regional programs throughout the country. From hundreds of applicants, only forty-eight lawyers are selected for each class.  J. Jude Basile was selected for the first class Gerry Spence ever held, in 1994, and shortly afterwards, at Gerry's request, became an instructor.  Jude now sits on the College's board of directors.
